Facial FAQ's

Q: What is a facial?

A: A Facial may vary depending where you schedule your appointment. At Premier we strive to make each service 100% customized after taking time to discuss your overall desired results. Facials consist of a series of steps where a licensed professional performs these steps: Cleansing, Exfoliation, Steam & extractions (as needed), Mask, shoulder massage, serums and/or ampoules (customized according to skin goals), eye cream, moisturizer & SPF.

Q: What is the best facial to get before a big event?

A: At Premier Face and Bodywork there’s 2 facials that will leave your skin glowing for any type of event; from a wedding to a photo shoot. Luminous Brightening Facial and The Red Carpet Facial. Both are 100% customized according to individual needs, great for all skin types, and both will leave you looking and feeling your best.

Q: Will I be red or have downtime after getting a facial?

A: In most cases no one should experience irritation or downtime after a facial. However, it is possible when you start to incorporate treatments. When getting a facial for anti-aging & skin tightening, brightening & reduction of hyperpigmentation, or deep cleansing & acne facials, you shouldn’t experience downtime after.

Q: What is Microdermabrasion?

A: Microdermabrasion is a treatment is done using a small pencil size wand that uses diamond crystals to remove the top layer of dead skin. At Premier Face and Bodywork we take a few minutes prior to the start of the treatment to discus your overall goals and desired improvements with your skin.

Q: Will I be sore or red after getting Microdermabrasion?

A: Depending on how aggressive of a treatment you get, sometimes you can experience redness and be a little sun sensitive for 24 hours following Microdermabrasion. However, in most cases when doing Microdermabrasion you’ll only experience a slight irritation, similar to windburn, and very little pinkness of the skin.

Q: What type of skin, or imperfections of the skin will Microdermabrasion help with?

A: Microdermabrasion treats a variety of skin conditions; anti-aging, skin tightening, smooth fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also a great treatment for acne scarring. It works by resurfacing the top layers of skin to lighten and smooth scars left after breakout; such as dark marks, pitted and ice pick scarring. Results you can expect from Microdermabrasion are: smoother texture, smaller looking pore size, reduction of dark marks and uneven skin tone, as well as anti-aging, skin tightening, increase in collagen production, and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

Q: What is Micro-Needling?

A: Micro-Needling is step up from Microdermabrasion as the treatment works on a deeper level. The overall goal is to create little channels into the skin so product penetrates much deeper, creates more collagen production, and improve a variety of skin imperfections. It’s very important to choose a licensed professional with experience; results will be seen much quicker when the service provider has a working knowledge of how to blend and customize the best products for each individual.

Q: What is Micro-Needling good for?

A: First, and most important, choose an experienced professional. Many people don’t realize there’s multiple techniques in which you can perform Micro-Needling, also known as Collagen Induction. There’s also a multitude of serums, ampules, and different skincare lines saying they have the best product; as well as a variety of needling tips to choose from according to desired results.

Overall, MicroNeedling is great to improve fibroblast activity; meaning it increases collagen production. This helps tighten the skin in many ways, not only anti-aging; more collagen means tighter skin and smaller looking pore size. It’s also perfect for treating acne scars. Whether you have pitted, ice pick scars, or dark marks left from breakouts, Collagen Induction can smooth out that scarring. Another advantage of having an experienced professional knowing what blends and specific ingredients to use with Micro-Needling, the depth in which to set the Dermapen device to reduce Hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. Different techniques, blends of serums, among other things will determine the amount of improvement seen as well as the amount of downtime.

Q: What can I expect after Micro-Needling session? Is there downtime?

A: In order to reach optimal skincare goals most Micro-Needling treatments don’t have to result in hiding your face, staying away from people, and experiencing red irritated skin. However, the amount of downtime, whether your skin is only pink for 24 hours or your skin’s red for a couple of days, depends how aggressive the Collagen Induction is done. When treating deep acne scars or a very deeply embedded line on your face, you may be a little more sensitive for 48 hours. Overall there can be very little downtime. If a very aggressive treatment is necessary and you are still pink after 48 hours, it should be very little and at that time you’re able to put makeup on as desired.

Q: Is Micro-Needling painful?

A: Premier Face and Bodywork applies a topical numbing cream that works in minutes; quicker than most meaning less “sit and wait time” before starting the treatment. However, some patients have requested no numbing cream with this treatment; there will be some discomfort without numbing.

Q: What is No-Needle Meso?

A: No-needle Meso is an effective way to create channels in the skin, much like Micro-Needling, without the use of needles. Many people dislike the use of needles in order to reach their desired skicare goals; this is the perfect alternative. It’s a pain-free way to effectively treat the skin for anti-aging & skin tightening, reduction of hyperpigmentation, dark spots, & sun damage, and acne scars.

No-Needle Meso in the medical field is known as Electroporation; a pulsed current used to penetrate active ingredients into the skin (pushing through the stratum corneum). Meso stands for Mesotherapy; which is using needles to deliver a product, medication, vitamins, minerals, proteins, etc. into the skin. No-Needle Meso uses a pulsed current to penetrate product into the skin, without the use of needles. Although it has similarities with Micro-needling, there are a few differences. When needling desired product into the skin it creates “microinjury” to the skin. This will lead to the skin producing more collaged to heal. However, many devices now offer several modalities within the equipment that will stimulate fibroblast activity which increases collagen production. At Premier Face and Bodywork we have several devices to choose from. Upon consultation a licensed professional will consult prior to all treatments and give recommendations, only performing treatments to obtain optimal results.

Simply applying a product (serums, ampoules, etc.) doesn’t get to the depth needed to be effective. Therefore No-Needle Meso is an effective way of penetration of the active ingredients deep into the skin for corrective treatments as well as preventative.

Q: What’s the best way to get rid of dark spots?

A: Hyperpigmentation gives the appearance of uneven skin tone and can be caused by many different factors. Depending on the cause, length of time, and the current care you put into your skin will determine the best treatment for you.

A consultation is performed before each treatment to determine your overall goals and the best plan of action to achieve them. Lightening Facial, Lightening Lift, Jessner Peel, Microdermabrasion, Micro-Needling, No-Needle Meso and Oxygen Treatments are a few ways to achieve a more even skin tone.

Q: What is an Oxygen Treatment?

A: An Oxygen Treatment can be good for all skin types, even very sensitive skin. We use the a device with the latest technology and is typically applied with a small handle connected with tubing to the Oxygen tank. The hyperbaric O2 machine uses the air we breath and purifies it. We then custom blend different serums and ampoules, according to individual needs, and apply it to the skin. It feels very comfortable, like a mist with cool air blown onto the skin to deeply penetrate product.

Q: What type of skin is an Oxygen Treatment for?

A: All types of can benefit, however, we custom blend the perfect serums and ampoules with ingredients to reach your desired goals. Another benefit is prevention of breakouts. It kills bacteria, which makes a perfect treatment for acne-prone skin.
